The beautiful island of Bali has many delights to offer and one of them is its beaches. Here are the top five beaches in Bali for you to swim, surf and laze away at to your heart's content.

Seminyak Beach

Located in the south of Bali, is the stunning 5-kilometer beach of Seminyak. Resorts, restaurants and bars are lined are dotted along the shore just footsteps away from the waves. It's also famous for its high-end shopping scene and you'll find many designer boutiques and galleries selling everything from eclectic clothing to antiques and art. Once you've shopped till you dropped head over to the beach itself for many hours of fun and relaxation.

This way you save some bucks and have a great time at the same time without spending too much time and money on a diving center. Resorts like the above have their own PADI-certified instructors who will teach you the ropes in diving and scuba diving. Even If you are a pro, you can rent out the equipment. Seminyak is also great for surfing.

Nusa Dua

Designed to be an all-inclusive tourist destination, the beach resort of Nusa Dua lies 22 kilometers away from the capital of Denpasar, in Bali's south coast. A long ribbon of golden sands is the main highlight of Nusa Dua and along this you will find plenty of beach clubs, restaurants and five-star resorts. You will also find good shopping malls here such as the Bali Collection and the Sogo Department Store.

Head over to Nusa Dua's Pantai Geger public beach to laze away and soak up some rays and enjoy a good swim as well. Go to see the spectacular "Water Blow" which is a rock formation unto which sea waves collide and create a giant splash. Hop on boat a glass-bottomed boat en route to Serangan Island, also known as the Turtle Island; to find out about the conservation project going there and to see some adorable sea turtles!

Kuta Beach

Kuta Beach is a glorious curve stretching for 8 kilometers from Tuba to Canggu. Conveniently situated within a few minutes distance away from the Ngurah Rai International Airport, the Kuta Beach is a favourite destination among tourists due to many reasons, one being that its home to great surf breaks ideal for both amateurs as well as pro surfers. There are plenty of surf schools located along the shore, should you require lessons.

Once a quiet fishing village, Kuta has now developed into a famous party destination in Bali, with many nightclubs and bars dotted along the shore. The beach parties here are said to be simply amazing!

Padang Padang

This gorgeous one hundred-meter-long stretch of sand known as the Padang Padang Beach lies along the on the north-western coast of Bali's Bukit Peninsula. Padang Padang would look really familiar to you if you watched Eat, Pray, Love starring Julia Robert's as this is where the heroine of the story visits when in Bali and falls in love. You'll be falling in love yourself here as this beach destination is simply heavenly. Famous as a surfer's destination, Padang Padang offers some of the most exciting waves in all of Bali.

Amed Beach

One of the lesser known beaches in Bali, Amed Beach is a laidback, beautiful stretch of sand that's located in the city of Candi Dasa. The biggest highlight of the beach is its underwater scene. Go on thrilling scuba diving and snorkeling tour under the turquoise waters of Amed Beach and you'll enter a kaleidoscopic world featuring coral reefs and spectacular marine life such as the giant mola mola fish.
