Must Visit Places in Hai Phong, Vietnam -Explore the Quaint, Port City

The center of the Red River, the city of Hai Phong in Vietnam features a lot of fascinating attractions for tourists to explore ranging from historical to natural significance and leisure activities.

Cat Ba Island

This is undoubtedly the most well-known attraction in the city. In an archipelago of 367 islands, the Cat Ba Island is the famous of all as its features an array of beautiful sceneries that can be enjoyed in comfortable weather which reaches 25 Celsius degrees in summer.
The island has three beaches that are safe for swimming. These beaches named simply as Cat Ba 1,2 and 3 have crystal clear waters that attract tourists from far and wide. In addition to swimming, you can also try out snorkeling and diving as there are many colorful coral reefs and fish.
Hire a kayak or boat from one of the diving centers in the island and go for an adventure of discovering the many islands in the archipelago! Some of these islands are home to stunning beaches such as Duong Danh (Đường Danh), Cat Trai Gai (Trai Gái), and Hien Hao.

Try Out Street Food

Even if you are on a short stay in Hai Phong you must make sure to try out its delectable cuisine. One cannot truly experience a destination without trying out its food, especially the street food, and the same goes when in Hai Phong. Being a port city, Hai Phong is famous for seafood so most of the dishes you find will be made from fish, calamari, crab...etc. For example, the most popular dish in Hai Phong, Banh Da Cua is a noodle soup made with crab, spinach, and other vegetables. Then there's also the Bun Ca noodle dish which is made using fish and the Nem Hai San spring rolls stuffed with crab and shrimp.

Peddle Around "Tay City"

Hai Phong city is more serene than the bustling Ho Chi Minh City, and more modern that the Old Hoi An town; so you find the best of both worlds here when cycling around the streets which the locals calls "Tay City", Hoang Van Thu, Minh Khai and Le Dai Hanh to name a few. Cycle along these small roads, stopping here and there to take some photos, especially at the Ancient village near Binh Ferry. Peddle to the Cathedral Hai Phong before refreshing yourself with a hot cuppa traditional coffee. Finally, as the day ends, cycle up to the banks of the Tam Bac River and enjoy the spectacular sunset.

Buy Some Seafood

As mentioned before, Hai Phong is famous for its fresh seafood, so why not visit one of the fish markets here? Visit the Do market. For more than one century this has been the biggest wholesale market Hai Phong, specializing in dry seafood. Here, you could find different types of seafood like dried squids, dried shrimps, mackerels, and dried "Sa Sung". Buy some of these ingredients and try making it at your apartment at Somerset Central TD Hai Phong City or any other apartment hotel; to enjoy a delicious home cooked meal.

Visit The Traditional Flower Village

Ever visited a traditional flower village? No? Then here's your chance! The traditional flower village in Hai Phong is named as the Ha Lung Village. Stroll through the beautiful rose and daisy gardens and buy yourself a bouquet from the flower market, open from early morning.
