This is the city's iconic attraction! A mammoth structure that's made from Macedonian marble this mosque is a marvellous fusion of Ottoman, Mameluke and Fatimid design. A celebration of Islamic architecture this mosque is very modern in every sense. The interior and exterior are enhanced with the skills of artisans using modes such as mosaic tiling, glass work and elegant carvings. Construction took 20 years before it was opened in 2007. This is the largest mosque in the UAE able to hold 40,000 worshipers within its confines. Non-Muslims are allowed guided tours into the mosque dedicated to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan.
