Places to go shopping in Sukhumvit – luxury shopping in Bangkok

Sukhumvit is a luxury shopping hub in Bangkok. Shopping in this part of the town can feel like a cosmopolitan adventure and the much-loved shops are numerous and varied.

Standing tall opposite Sukhumvit Road, EmQuartier is a luxurious oasis for shoppers. You could spend hours at the mall browsing designer brands at the many designer shops or dining at the chic restaurants. The distinct design of the complex seems like a slice of life from a future era. One of the most prominent features of the mall is the atrium garden with the waterfall. You can access the EmQuartier complex directly from the Phrom Phong BTS station. If you are staying at a Bangkok apartment hotel located in Sukhumvit such as the Adelphi Forty-Nine, getting to the mall will be quite easy.

Terminal 21

Terminal 21 is best visited by yourself as trying to keep track of family and friends will not be easy. It will, however, be a heavenly experience for avid shoppers. You can visit the fashion capital themed sections to shop for different types of clothing. The 'London' section houses menswear while women can get their hands on well-known fashion brands at the 'Tokyo' section. Once you complete your shopping spree go to the top floor (Hollywood) to enjoy the latest blockbusters to hit the theatres or eat a hearty meal on the fourth floor. The food court and the restaurants at Terminal 21 are quite impressive.

Gateway Ekamai

A visit to Gateway Ekamai is like a detour into a Japanese mall. The entrance itself is adorned with large depictions of the famous Maneki-neko (lucky cat), few bamboo water fountains and replicated cherry trees. While the ground floor houses food stalls, the second floor is home to a number of salons that provide manicure, pedicure and even eyelash extensions in true Japanese style. Once on the third floor, you can enjoy a bazaar style shopping experience. If you are looking for electronic gadgets, visit the fourth and the fifth floors where you will come across shops dedicated to the world's top brands.

This shopping mall will appeal to fashionistas with its chic shops dedicated to both international and Thai designer brands. For all the elegant brands available such as Dior and Chanel (and some popular Thai brands), the mall is not all about fashion brands. You can also shop for electronic items, cameras and home ware. You can access the Emporium directly from the Phrom Phong BTS line.

K Village

K Village is a modern hipster hangout for many Thai celebrities and youth. While the 100 odd stores sell fashionable clothing, hip accessories and beauty care products, the main attraction of the K Village is fine dining. You can easily find gourmet food, cool and well lit cafés and high end restaurants. The activities area of the shopping mall becomes a beer garden par excellence during the cooler months of the year. Since the mall offers outdoor parking as well, many visit this upscale joint to shop for gourmet food, savour some of the finest cuisine and coffee and enjoy the good life.
