My Top 10 List of technological educational tools learned about in EDU-228.
This app is a great way for parents and teachers to keep in touch. Through this app, the teacher can upload photos to the class story, give students "points" for good behavior, and have one-on-one messaging with individual parents when needed. This is an essential for the modern classroom.
This app is the one I used to create my Digital Storytelling project. When you begin a new story, the app gives you a storyline of introduction, climax, resolution, etc. Tap on each one of these to pick customizable backdrops and characters, narrate the story, and add moody music. When your done, it converts into a video. Great tool for students to create their own stories.
Kahoot is one tool that I will never grow tired of. I love the universality of this website. As soon as a student can read, they can participate in a quiz, and my classes in my sophomore year of college still use Kahoot. Kahoot is a simple way for students to compete with one another according to the information they have learned.
Piktochart is an amazing tool for teachers to create infographics and reports for their students in minutes. Simply click on a template and customize to your heart's content!
Buncee is basically taking PowerPoint to a whole other level. Through Buncee, teachers can create a slideshow full of any multimedia imaginable, then share it with students. Buncee is a great, easy way to engage students in a completely new way.
Google Slides is an amazing way for students to work collaboratively on a PowerPoint-type platform. Anything that you can do on a PowerPoint, you can do with Slides. However, students can team up and complete a task at the same time from different places.
Storybird is another storytelling tool that is easy to use for teachers and students. Add pictures or drawings, then narrate them to create a brand-new, sharable story.
Mystery Skype is an amazing way to get students interacting with one another. One class connects to another and they have to figure out where the other one is located only through yes or no questions.
Newsela is amazing for students at any age level. Students simply pick an article and the website adjusts wording to fit their reading level so any student can easily grasp the same information.
Nearpod is a great way to have all students follow along with the information being in their own hands. Teachers simply import a slideshow, then share it with the class. The teacher can explain the slideshow and when the teacher moves on to the next slide, it will also change on the students' devices.
