Charleston is a city rich with history. Within the city limits are several museums and historic sites. There are over 80 buildings in the old historic district that date back the better part of two centuries. If you’re on a shorter visit, you can visit America’s oldest museum, the Charleston Museum. The area is great for civil war enthusiasts, as they can visit Fort Sumter, the Powder Magazine (which has been standing since 1713), or the American Military Museum. It’s a rare blend, to be sure, but a very stylish, welcoming one. The city has food for all tastes. If you interested in Italian, check out Al Di La, a casual neighborhood restaurant with delicious food at reasonable prices. For a more upscale night out, try Husk, which has been hailed as “one of the best restaurants in the country.” Regardless of where you end up, be sure to try some of the southern dishes.
