The Carnival Beach of Male – Aka Artificial Beach

Strange but true the Maldives has an artificial beach. The place exists on the capital and compensates for the islands lack of a proper beach due to modernisation. Mind you since this is not a private resort beach it does not allow skimpy beach attire; instead respect local customs and dress appropriately. In case you are wondering about the name 'carnival beach' it must be noted that the area is so named due to the regular carnival and water sports activities that take place there. In fact the Artificial Beach is a hip place to set off to for some leisurely evening chill sessions due to the laidback jam sessions that take place there.

4

HP Reef – Scuba Dive amongst Splendid Coral

HP Reef too is on the North Male Atoll and is one of the archipelagos top tourists attractions. The place is home to a myriad of colourful little coral fish, turtles and other sea creatures as well as underwater caves; the place comes highly recommended to those of you who love underwater photography. On the subject of photography the Maldives is known for its spectacular sunsets and although no one place can be recommended for capturing the magic of a fiery sky at sunset, those of you based at one of the water bungalows Maldives is famous for can snap away from your private terrace on the ocean. Definietly one of the best locations on the archipelago!

Utheema Ganduvaru for Culture and History

Utheema Ganduvaru has been likened to a mini green jelly fish that resides on the northern sector of the archipelago.
