Medicare is health insurance typically for people 65 years of age or older as well as individuals under 65 years old with certain types of disabilities. It also covers people of any age with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), which is permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a kidney transplant.
Eligible to enroll 3 months before age 65, the month you turn 65 and 3 months after you turn 65 (you may have to pay a lifetime penalty if you enroll late – if you have credible coverage through an employer or spouse’s employer the penalty will not apply)
Medicare Part C is better known as “Medicare Advantage” Medicare Advantage is available to you through an insurance company that is assigned your medicare benefits. In turn the insurance company provides your health coverage that may be similar to what you have had in the past.
Medicare Part D is the plan designed for seniors on medicare. It is available to you when you turn age 65. The enrollment period begins 3 months before age 65 (the month of your birth) and 3 months after your birth month.
