Ipswich has many hiking trails that cater to varied fitness levels. Ideal for enjoying the fabulous environs the trails are enhanced with thrills of horse riding, mountain biking and simply loads of fun.

Denmark Hill

The entrance to the Denmark Hill trail is situated in front of the corner of Clay and Deebing Street. The trail is classified as easy to moderate; hence it's ideal for a leisurely stroll in the outdoors. Open from 6 am to 6 pm the trail offers a 200 metre and 800 metre track. A walk will take anything from 5 minutes to 20 minutes depending on the chosen trail. Choose from the waterfall track 200 metres one way, Triassic circuit 200 metres for a round trip, quarry circuit also 200 metres return trip, water tower circuit 800 metres return trail and the Blues circuit 800 metres return trail. Denmark Trail is very popular amongst the local bushwalking groups.

Flinders Goolman Conservation Estate – Hardings Paddock

Located at Carmichaels Road in Purga this trails veers around easy to difficult. Open from 6 am to 6 pm the track is 19kms in total. Trails include chalk trail 560 metres, return trip to Rocky Knoll lookout 2.4kms, Galmen circuit 3kms return, Goolman lookout and back 5.6kms, Goolman lookout through Rocky Knoll 7.4kms return, Horse trail circuit 9kms return and the Flinders Goolman trail 19kms round trip. The duration can last from a mere 5 minutes to a 6 hour hike. Either way the promise of returning to your comfortable Ipswich hotel is always a comforting thought, especially since the trails start and end from close to the city centre.

Haig Street Quarry Bushland Reserve

This trail starts at 59 High Street Brassal; just 7 minutes away for guests at Oaks Aspire Apartments. The moderate trail is open from 6 am to 6 pm and varies in length from 800 metres to 1 kilometre. Trails take from 20 to 25 minutes and consist of two circuits. These are the Willy Wagtail circuit 1 km one way and the Bearded Dragon circuit which is 800 metres one way. Hikers who take on these trails are well rewarded with stunning views of the Haig Street Quarry Bushland Reserve.

White Rock – Spring Mountain Conservation Estate

Start this trail from the Paperbacks Flats Picnic area on School Road in Redbank Plains. The trail is open from 6 am to 6 pm and is classified as easy to moderate. The total length of the hiking trail varies from 800 metres to 19kms. Trails include Bluff circuit 200 metres one way, Little White Rock Lookout Point one way 200 metres, Six Mile Creek Boardwalk 300 metres one way, Little White Rock track 600 metres one way, Six Mile Creek track 1.4kms return trip, the White Rock multi user trail return trip 6.5kms and the Yaddamun trail19kms total for a loop hike. Duration of a hike can vary from 5 minutes to 10 hours; you choose the distance.

Purga Nature Reserve

Start the trail from 840 Middle Road Purga. The moderate track like all the others is open from 6 am to 6pm. Distance is between 800 metres to 1km and duration of a hike varies from 20 to 25 minutes. Choose from the Willy Wagtail circuit 1km one way and the Bearded Dragon circuit 800 metres one way. This trail is ideal for families to enjoy the outdoors together.
