Diving is undoubtedly one of the best things to try out in Maldives due to the clear waters that are teeming with marine wildlife. So, here are the top places to have fun under the waves in Maldives!

The Manta Point

Take a dive into the Manta Point in Maldives, and be amazed! This is one of the most popular dive sites in the country and for good measure. The Manta Point is the venue where one of the most spectacular of underwater natural phenomena takes place. When you witness it, it would remind you of a car wash as giant Manta Rays would line up to be cleaned up by dozens of tiny fish called cleaner wrasse. This is beneficial to both species as the manta rays would get rid of troublesome parasites while the wrasse fish would get a hearty meal out of it!

The best time to visit the Manta Point would be between the months of May and November as the plankton on which the Mantas feed, is abundant during this time. The Manta Point reef is located about 40 minutes by speedboat from the North Malé atoll. Banana Reef

If you're done a bit of research about diving in Maldives, you would by now already know that the Banana Reef is the oldest of the diving sites in the country due to be the first to be discovered. The name "Banana Reef" originates from the fact that the reef is in the shape of a banana. The Banana Reef diving site is home to a wonderful array of marine life from colourful corals to fish species such as oriental sweetlips, giant Napoleon wrasse, sharks and much more.

The Banana Reef is located in the North Male Atoll. It's best recommended to go diving here in the morning as then the waters are at their clearest.

Cocoa Corner

Always had that thrilling dream of swimming with sharks? If so your dream can come true at the Cocoa Corner diving site. Identified as the best shark spot in Male Atoll, the Cocoa Corner features a 1312 feet-long pinnacle, a steep drop off and dramatic ravines, caverns and overhangs full of spectacular sea life. This marine life consists of large species like tuna, eagle rays, trevallies, barracudas and of course the main attraction, gray reef sharks! In addition to these you can also meet species such as trumpetfish, sweetlips, snapper, and rock cod.

Here, you will be able to spot large numbers of turtles that are swimming in the same direction.
