National Institutional Ranking Framework under Ministry of Human Resource Development of Central Government of India has published the 'India Rankings 2017' to list-out the best educational institution in the country. Here is the list of top 25 educational institutions of India in that list.

Indian Institute of Science Bangalore | 1909 | Bengaluru

IISc is the premier institute for advanced scientific and technological research and education in India.

Indian Institute of Technology Madras | 1959 | Chennai

Indian Institute of Technology Madras is one among the foremost institutes of national importance in higher technological education, basic and applied research. In 1956, the German Government offered technical assistance for establishing an institute of higher education in engineering in India. The first Indo-German agreement in Bonn, West Germany for the establishment of the Indian Institute of Technology at Madras was signed in 1959.

Indian Institute of Technology Bombay | 1958 | Mumbai

Established in 1958, the second of its kind, IIT Bombay was the first to be set up with foreign assistance. The funds from UNESCO came as Roubles from the then Soviet Union.
