Stuff to Keep you Excited in Doha – A Fun Guide on What to Do!

Are you planning to visit Doha soon? Here are a list of things to do that will keep you busy and overly excited while in the city!

1

Beaches

Who says you can't enjoy the beach while you're in the middle of a desert?! Right?! Well, right indeed! Doha has its fair share of beautiful beaches awaiting your presence, complete with white sands and mesmerizingly blue waters. However, keep in mind that unless you're staying at some of the luxury hotels in Doha, there's a high chance that you'll have to pay to enter the beach area. Katara beach is quite popular with tourists looking for copious amounts of sun, sand and sea! Some resorts that are located along the beach such as Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara will even offer a variety of water sports for you to partake in. Water sports such as jet skiing, banana boat rides and kayaking are thrilling and are a definite must try when you've got nothing to do all day, but have fun and relax!

Museums

Whoever said Museums aren't exciting, definitely haven't been to one in ages. There are a number of museums in Doha such as The Museum of Islamic Art, Al Riwaq Exhibition Hall, The Weaponry Museum, Qatar National Museum and Doha Fort. Most of the museums have no entrance fees, which is even more exciting as you can learn a lot about this country, without having it burn a hole through your wallet. The Museum of Islamic Art is a favourite, in particular, because of its collection of Persian rugs, damascene wood carvings and Turkish mosaics, to name a few.

3

Shopping

When is shopping not exciting?! Am I right?! When you're in Doha, besides the plenty of souvenirs that you need to buy for everyone back home, browse through the stalls and open markets for whatever you can take back home to remind you of this beautiful city. Look for the local souq where you can find dozens of knick knacks and souvenirs to choose from – and frankly, go crazy excited over! Choose from colourful textiles or hand woven rugs, or if you miss your luxury brands, head over to the popular iconic malls like the City Centre or Villagio Mall.

4

Desert Safari

No vacation in the Middle East is ever complete without a desert safari. Book a desert safari by choosing from one of the many providers in the area, some hotels might be able to arrange this for you. While on the safari, you'll be swerving, diving, and twisting around the red desert dunes in a 4X4, after which you'll be provided with a local feast to indulge in. Desert safaris are excting and give you plenty of opportunities to scream your heart out!

Al Maha Sanctuary

Al Maha Sanctuary is home to the majestic Arabian Oryx – the proud symbol of Qatar. You would have probably noticed this on the tail of the Qatar Airways. The Arabian Oryx is a white antelope with curves horns. The Department of Wildlife Conservation manages the Sanctuary and is a great place to watch these elegant animals in their natural habitat.
