This novel explores the lives of the people who are NOT the superheroes. Have you ever wondered what it's like to be the "average" person in a save the world story? Well, Patrick Ness explores this quite well in this novel. I highly recommend this book if you love stories about love, heartbreak, struggle, and general nerdiness.
Humans have conquered death and have infinite knowledge, but this does not mean that all is well. Citra and Rowan, two teenagers living normal lives until they meet Scythe Faraday, are chosen to become apprentice scythes. This is a not a job either wants, taking the lives of people in order to keep the population at a sustainable size, but both find themselves competing for the position when it becomes a matter of life and death for themselves.
You may think humor and death is not a topic that can mix well, but in the book deadline Chris Crutcher proves how wrong you are. Although its dark, this book is hard to resist laughing at. The book follows a boy in his senior year of high school who finds out he has a fatal blood disease. With the first person view of the story you get to read all of his humorous thoughts through out the story. If you like sad, humorous, romantic, sporty, high school stories, this is a great book for you.

The Communist Manifesto offers a great introduction to Marxist theory. This is worthy for anyone who wants to learn the basics of communism. It's a short read but it's very good material. Marx and Engels created a fantastic entry level book for any aspiring communist or anyone who simply wants to learn new things. This book is very good if you're interested.
This book follows the life of Malcolm X, one of the most influential and powerful African American persons of the racial inequality in the mid 1900's. Alex Haley narrates his life, from his religious affiliation as a Muslim to his journey for equality, and large amount of followers he gained in that process. Through all the twists and turns, I definitely recommend this book.

#AmericanGods by #NeilGaiman 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻So many things to say, but I'll try to keep it short. This is NOT my genre and definitely not my chosen book length (742 pages). This is a book that I would usually run FAST away from. However, I decided to take on this challenge since I often coerce my students to read things outside their genre favorites as well. In order to keep my sanity, I alternated between audio and physically reading the book. This helped me immensely. My main problem with genres like this is that I stumble over name pronunciations and I get too frustrated to continue reading. Once I got names down, it made reading so much easier. This novel was fantastically written. The gist: old gods versus the new gods, who will win in the epic battle for the heart of America? If you enjoy mythology, sci-fi, magical realism, comedy, mystery, this novel has IT ALL. Gaiman has converted me with a willingness to try new things "Say! I like green eggs and ham, I do. I like them Sam-I-am!" (Seuss, Green Eggs & Ham).
John & Jenny want to begin a family together, in order to find out if they are truly prepared to be a parent, they adopt a labrador. Marley, the dog, isn't the most obedient dog, although brings joy to the couple during extremely difficult times of their marriage. This is a book full of excitment, very hilarious, as well as sad. THERE IS A MOVIE FOR THE BOOK!
Everything everything is a book about a girl who is sick and can't leave her house . She starts liking her new neighbor and she decides to leave her house and go to hawaii with her neighbor because that's the last place she went with her family before her mother told her she was sick .

The Brothers Karamazov written by the Russian author Fyodor Dostoevsky is a philosophical novel that enters deep ethical debate about God, free will and mortality. The book is a spiritual drama of moral struggles concerning faith, judgment, and reason. Meanwhile Fyodor Dostoevsky keeps us captivated to the entrancing plot, which revolves around drama and the subject of patricide.
This book is for most teenagers interested in some drama and also real world problems. Lextington is the main character in the book who gets a reality check from her billion air father and also find her true self instead of her bratty rich 18 year old ways. Enjoy humor, reality, and some romance along the way as you read this book.

Cassandra Clare is known as the queen of fantasy her books are crazy good. She creates a entirely knew fantasy world with intricate story lines. All of her characters are wonderfully written with extreme diversity including different races and even one of the main characters being autistic. If you liked the mortal instruments by Cassandra Clare you will love this book/series. You will also enjoy this if you like any kind of fantasy or just enjoy books that have characters you can relate to.
Lady Ailaena Kameron was like any other average girl until she witnessed her mother get murdered. After that tragic event she was no longer that nice, innocent child. She wanted revenge. I would recommend this book to people that are into Fiction, Fantasy, & Romance.
Two completely different lives intertwine in this novel set in World War II. A blind girl, Marie-Laure, from France and a boy, Werner, from Germany discover life's hard difficulties growing up in a war where they must overcome obstacles they face. Packed with adventure, mystery, and a bit of romance, this novel takes the reader through emotional hurtles that makes the book unforgettable.

The English Patient by Michael Ondaatje is about a nursed named Hana who is trying to save her last surviving patient. She doesn't know the patients name, all she knows is that he was severely burned in a desert. I just started this book, but I really like it already because it shows a lot of imagery.
When two girls get stuck in a blizzard on their way to Idlewilde, they are forced to stay at a nearby shelter while the storm passes. As the girls looked they happened to stumbled upon a cabin with two boys inside. Although the handsome young men were charming they could not hide the fact that something eerie was going on. The girls are taken hostage and one girl in particular, Britt, has to survive through the storm no matter how heart breaking or painful the trip becomes. This stereotypical troubling love story is a plot twisting and mysterious book, it is SO worth your time!
