What to Pack for a Week in the Maldives – Preparing For Paradise!

Planning a getaway to the Maldives? Here is a list of essential items that one should ideally pack and which will help your holiday be even more enjoyable.

1

Sunscreen

While the Maldives does offer some fabulous spa treatments that can be enjoyed indoors, chances are you will be spending most of your time having fun in the sun, sand and surf. This is why it is essential to pack a good sunscreen with you and one that offers good protection. Having a large brimmed sun hat adds to your protection. The last thing you need is to be suffering from sunburn on your holiday!

2

Sunglasses

Sunglasses offer protection for your eyes and here again, due to the fact that you will be spending lots of time outdoors, it is important you have a good pair. The sun can get quite harsh at times and sometimes the strong glare off the sand or sea can trigger headaches you would ideally want to avoid. Besides, nothing like being able to not have to squint and take in the beauty that surrounds you even when the sun is at its peak.

3

Swimwear

Seems obvious enough of a choice, but you can plan and pack more than one swimwear option. This includes for both guys and girls! Girls can pack both a one piece suit and a bikini, while guys may choose to wear typical swim shorts for outdoor exploration and the traditional swim briefs or Speedos in their villa pool. The choice is yours and since there are lots of places for lazing or swimming in the water you might as well pack a few options.

4

Sandals & Slippers

Barefoot island living is epitomised in this destination. You will be spending lots of time in the sand be it walking along the shore or even when dining at one of the beachside Maldives restaurants found at island resorts. In such places forget wearing leather shoes or heels and enjoy the freedom that sandals or slippers have to offer.

5

Dry Bag

What is a dry bag you may ask? Well, it's a bag that will do just that; keep your things dry! Might not seem like an essential item but do remember that you will be most probably spending lots of time at the beach or in the water. This is true at most resorts such as COMO Maalifushi, The Maldives which provide loads of water sports. Thus, dry bags are a handy way to keep a fresh pair of clothes, towels and any other items you have, dry and safe.

6

Underwater Camera

While you may think this item is not needed, chances are when you are on your snorkelling or diving excursions you will wish you had one! The underwater beauty of the Maldives has to be seen to be fully appreciated; having an underwater camera will give you the perfect chance to capture some of the vibrant coral and marine species you will encounter. Instead of buying one you could always look to borrow one from a friend or rent one out.

7

Insect Repellent

Being a tropical country, the Maldives does have insects. Packing an insect repellent is a great way to ensure no unnecessary buzzing disturbs you while enjoying some rest and relaxation.
