The Remarkables Ski Area

The Remarkables overlooking the Oaks Club is probably the most famous of all Queenstown slopes. Ideal for beginners and families alike the northern slopes of the mountain range are loads of fun for young adults too. An early learning centre is well equipped to handle first timers and children hitting the slopes; all equipment is provided at this world class ski resort just 25 minutes from the towns centre. The Remarkables are generally open for skiing from July. The terrain is very versatile promising loads of fun for skiers of all ages. Snowboarding and skiing are the most popular activities at the site open from 9 am to 4 pm. Choose from the 3 terrain parks that cater to beginners and advanced skiers.

Cardrona

Another one of the fabulous Wanaka ski fields you can easily access from your Queenstown ski resort. Cardrona is an all year ski field that is a safe bet for skiers of varied skills. The place attracts all kinds of snow lovers who enjoy the open trails and some of the best snow conditions in New Zealand. Cardrona is well set up with 4 kids centres dedicated to teaching the little tykes the ropes of skiing and snowboarding in safe environs. The place is also home to the New Zealand Olympic Park as well as the Pipe Team. This is the biggest ski area closest to and easily accessed from beautiful Queenstown.

Coronet Peak

Coronet Peak since its opening in 1947 has been a hit amongst visitors and locals. A 20 minute drive from the centre of Queenstown this Alpine mountain boasts 280 hectares of snowy terrain to enjoy. Look forward to world class snowboarding and skiing facilities here that are best enjoyed from June to September. Catering to all abilities the place has a beginner's area for novices while wide groomed trails, varied terrain and steep off-piste runs promise to entertain while offering a touch of daredevil adventure to skilled skiers. A favourite amongst families Coronet Peak is home to an early learning centre that encourages children from the ages of 3 months to 5 years to enrol in the 'Skiwiland' a learning centre that employ experienced and dedicated instructors eager to teach the joys of snow adventures to the youngest members of your family.

Located within the Queenstown Wanaka area this is the South Islands biggest ski area.
