Thailand is one of Asia's most popular tourist destinations. Cities and towns like the capital, Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Haad Rin, the latter of which is the town of origin for the famous and infamous Thai full moon parties, are well-known names around the world.

Through the capital city of Bangkok runs the river, Chao Praya, also known as the River of Kings.

This river is popular for local cruises, and some of the ones that are sure to be included in a luxury travel guide are those run by Anantara Cruises as well as a few others.

These cruises offer the ultimate in comfort, providing luxurious furnishings aboard vessels such as antique rice barges, and great on-board cuisine.

They are a good option for lovebirds and families alike who would like some privacy and quality time together.

The river cruises usually stop along several sightseeing spots for guests to explore during the course of their voyage. Generally, the cruises last around three days and offer a nice break from hotel rooms. ⛵️🌇

There are single country river cruises, and then there are ones like those in European which span several countries.

One of the more popular cruise paths involves sailing along the Rhine River across countries like Germany, France, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

River cruises like these last around a week in general with a day or two's stop in each country.

In addition to breathtaking views of the river, guests can also participate in events like wine-tasting, cycling tours and visits to cathedrals, museums and castles.

These pan-European cruises along the Rhine River are said to be especially scenic owing to the large number of medieval fortresses and castles that lie along it and which can be easily observed from a cruise ship. 🛳⛪️

The United States also has its fair share of river cruises to offer locals and tourists.

An example of a common cruise route that is embarked on is one which starts and ends in the city of Portland which is situated in the coastal state of Oregon in North America.

This sort of cruise usually involves setting sail along rivers such as Willamette, Snake and Columbia and stopping at many places of interest on the way.

These tours, too, offer activities such as wine tastings and excursions to several wineries for guests to participate in, and run for around a seven day period. 🛳🗻
