Kangaroo Island is situated in South Australia, to the southwest of Cape Jervis in Adelaide.

This island has much to offer kids and their parents. One such example is Seal Bay Conservation Park which offers tours of local sea lions. A tour for the whole family should cost a little less than 45 Australian Dollars and runs daily between nine am and four pm throughout the year.

If you want an extra special experience after dark and are willing to fork out extra for it, consider going for the twilight tours which run three days a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. It is advisable to make bookings prior to arrival for both these types of tours in order to avoid being disappointed on arrival.

Of course, one of the island's main attractions is kangaroo spotting. Take the kids to Flinders Chase National Park on Kangaroo Island. Here, you and your whole family can follow wilderness trails in search of these thoroughly Australian creatures, and have a hopping good time along with them!

The Great Barrier Reef

No trip to the land down under is really complete without a trip to the Great Barrier Reef and the rich diversity of marine wildlife that it has to offer.

The largest reef system in the world, the Great Barrier Reef offers glorious snorkelling experiences and is a great adventure to have with the family.

It is obviously better suited for families travelling with slighter older children, as opposed to toddlers or those under five, but sill, there's fun to be had for everyone. If you have extremely little ones with you, try out a glass bottom boat ride.

The little bundles of energy will be fascinated by the rainbow coloured world whizzing by beneath their legs.

Teens and adults have the added benefit of being able to scuba dive here as well. If you want to get to the reef, set out from places like Port Douglas in Queensland and journey out to the inner and outer reefs. 🐠🐟

If you or the kids have ever watched the older stuff on Cartoon Network or the works by the Warner Bros. from before the new millennium, you're likely to have seen or at least heard of Taz, the Tasmanian Devil.

Well, here's your chance to transport the kids and yourself to the land of the Tasmanian devil. The kids will be thrilled to see the real life counterparts of 'Taz' who featured in productions such as Merry Melodies and Looney Toons.

To view these animals in safe, family friendly environment, head to zoos or parks on the island of Tasmania such as the Bonorong Park.

This park, which is one among many in Tasmania, can be found around a 20-minute drive away from the major town of Hobart.

There are also many other outdoor activities that can be enjoyed on the island by the entire family including bicycling and kayaking.
