If scuba diving just isn't your thing, perhaps you can't swim or you don't have the license to dive, then there's another way you watch whales. Whale watching tours are popular here. The Columbus Passage, a 7000 foot trench that passes between the Caicos islands and the Turks islands and ends up at the Silver Banks, is ideal for watching humpback whales. The best time to watch these whales during their migration is between the months of January through to April. The period is also the ideal time to watch the majestic beats mate and play with their calf. Depending on your swimming capabilities, you'll be allowed to get in to the waters with the big friendly giants and snorkel around them! Do remember to not to get too close and avoid disturbing them.
