This is the most prominent temple in Colombo, and is considered highly sacred. This particular establishment was built quite recently as far as Sri Lankan temples are concerned, having only been constructed in the 19th century. Therefore it has some modern touches fused with the traditional architecture. Within the temple complex you will find a library, a museum, and countless Buddha statues built out of a variety of materials ranging from stone to Gold. Over time the temple has received countless presents from devotees, which are on display for visitors to see. These gifts include massive ivory tusks and elaborately carved oriental statues.

If you're looking for a good club, there are choices such as Clique and Disques, which are arguably the two most popular ones currently. For lounges and pubs there are many with distinct themes and offerings. 41 Sugar is an elegant place with live music and a classy upscale ambience. Which Way West is new entry to Colombo's pub scene and has become quite popular with young girls due the lack of predatory male crowds and a very friendly ambience.
