The Ultimate Top Five Tips For A Festival Themed Wedding!

With Coachella coming up next month, the time to plan our festival beauty and outfits is upon us and when better to get inspired for a festival themed wedding! There are lots of lovely ways to bring the exciting atmosphere and colourful vibes to your celebrations and here are some of my favourites. Please feel free to add yours too!

Get Festival Hair Inspiration

Something I adore about both festivals and weddings is all the amazing hair styles and I’ve found that to create really pretty summery looks, all you need to do is add braids and some beautiful fresh flowers. I love this tutorial by Hey It's Emily, she demonstrates some stunning styles and has another video for festival make-up looks too! For your wedding, there are lots of gorgeous ways to incorporate plaits, and popular this year are boxer braids and wrap around halos. The great thing about plaits is how versatile they are, if you want a more boho look for example, go a little messier with tumbling curls and loose tendrils around your face. For a more polished style, try tight plaits with sleek shiny hair and gold, silver or metallic clips.

Choose A Venue With Festival Atmosphere

Choose A Venue With Festival Atmosphere

One thing all festivals have in common is that they are almost always in the open air, which is why when it comes to choosing the venue for your special day that it is so important to choose a venue outside. The idea of having your wedding outdoors may seem a little daunting but there are lots of options to get excited about so get stuck in and enjoy! For the bold among us, you can go the whole way and literally throw your own festival by hiring a field, organising tents and even onsite camping. This can have incredible results but has the potential to be a little stressful. So, if you’d prefer something a little easier to organise, whilst still creating the all important festival atmosphere, you can find gorgeous outdoor venues that are tailored for special occasions like this beautiful wedding venue in Kent for example. This way you can enjoy your big day out beautiful nature like at a festival, with all the added benefits of being at a wedding venue, like PA systems and staff to help!

Find Musicians and Bands For Your Line Up

What makes a festival a festival, is the music and ideally you will want at least four or five different bands to make your unique wedding festival line-up! This by no means has to be famous musicians, you can have your friends who occasionally play together in their garage jam out on stage, or perhaps have a wedding DJ who plays House and Funk as well as the usual classics. There are also some incredible wedding bands out there like this one - Pop London who can do covers of your favourites, but try to organise these as early as possible as they get booked up very quickly. If your budget is really struggling, simply rig up you venue PA system and find a Coachella playlist!

Add The All Important Festival Extras

Add The All Important Festival Extras

For an authentic festival feel it is all about the little details that bring your special day together and add to the atmosphere. Your first port of call and the best way to get people excited about coming to your wedding is of course the invites. I love the idea of sending them out as a mini festival pack instead of a traditional card. There are some amazing online outlets like this one, that can mock up a wedding programme with bespoke lanyards and wristbands to match just like a real festival! Then next on your list should be quirky handmade wooden signage that lists your wedding line up with bands for the day and/or points to essential locations such as the bar, food stalls and bathrooms. These are a fun and creative way to get your guests in the mood and you can make them yourself with this easy tutorial!

Eat And Drink Festival Style With Cute Trucks

It would not be a festival if you did not have to queue up for some delicious food at a cute little truck. The best thing is that these are the hottest trend in wedding food, so it is super easy to find one and there are loads of amazing options! My personal favourites are wood fired pizzas and waffle floats, they're tasty and convenient to eat when you are dancing like a loon to your best friend's band. This is not to mention the amazing bar trucks there are around now too, you can get ones that serve just prosecco like this one from Bubble Bros and everyone loves prosecco! You can even hire a bar that serves your very own personalised drinks. This way you get festival style with your own twist on the amazing cocktails they whip up right in front of you.
