It is a big opportunity for any Singer to get a chance to prove versatility by singing both peppy and soft core songs. And Pavni Pandey is lucky for sure. Pavni Pandey, a hardcore Indian Classical Singer at heart acknowledges that Classical Music is the backbone of any form of Music. Noor, the much anticipated film of recent times is around the corner. Sonakshi Sinha as we know is playing the role of a Journalist in the film. And last Wednesday she posted the very first song and ideally the title track of the film Noor on her social media profile. The song is called Uff Yeh Noor and is all about the character of Sonakshi in the film. It describes and tries to portray how Noor tries to juggle her job as a Journalist and personal life. It seems she isn't happy about her job or her life altogether. On the other hand Sonakshi or Noor tries to respite among her friend circle temporarily to forget her worries. The character shows the qualities of a Dreamer, Impulsive, Confused and a Moody person. MUMBAI: Singer Asees Kaur, who sang 'Bol Na' for ‘Kapoor & Sons’, says acceptance of various voice textures is a positive change in playback singing as that is helping new talent to enter the world of Bollywood music. Known for her unusual soothing voice, Asees told IANS: "I think celebration of different voice textures is a positive change in Bollywood. Listeners are accepting and showing interest to hear new voices. That opens the door for many new talents like me." The singer, who started learning music at a very tender age, took part in talent hunt musical reality TV shows like ‘Indian Idol’ and ‘Awaaz Punjab Di’. She admits that after her first hit song ‘Bol Na’, she was getting only soothing romantic songs. And she makes no bones about saying that it is a challenge to break stereotypes. "My different voice is my originality, and that make me stand out from the rest. Therefore, I believe all the singers who have an unusual voice texture should explore that and celebrate the talent. This year, I have sung some party numbers as well. I hope people will get to hear some different songs from me, apart from soulful songs." Title Track: Badri Ki Dulhania To be fair, in Badri Ki Dulhania there is a sizeable contribution from Bagchi; it is only the main hook that the song borrows from Shankar Jaikishan’s Chalat Musafir from Teesri Kasam (which itself was a folk tune adaptation). Aashiq Surrender Hua: Composition and sung by Amaal Mallik. What's good is to see he is now trying something different than electro music to compose dance music. Amaal Mallik as said earlier is also the singer for the song which he does well enough to match the energy of Shreya Ghosal at the other end. Roke Na Ruke Naina: Another composition by Amaal Mallik where I must say, he did a good job. The music and instrument arrangement is something I did loved. Especially, the flute and guzheng by Tapas Roy Humsafar: Akhil Sachdeva, Leader of Delhi-based Sufi Music Band, made his debut in music composing with Humsafar. And undoubtedly I must say, he did an excellent job considering it to be his Official debut. The problem with the song is the vocals of Akhil Sachdeva, which doesn't do proper justice to such a lovely composition. Tamma Tamma Again: Unexpectedly awesome remix by Tanishk Bagchi in my opinion. The song is a revamp of Bappi Lahiri's hit song which was in turn inspired from Mory Kante's Tamma Tamma. Not to forget Laxmikant Pyarelal's Jumma Chumma which was sourced out of the same composition. I had personally loved the rap by Badshah but don't much appreciation about it all around. RunningShaadi is one of those movies which has more than one Music Composer. And what adds to the mystery is the inclusion of Anupam Roy as a Music Composer where Soojit Sircar stands as a Co-producer of the Movie. The song Main Faraar Sa is a sweet and straightforward melody wıth, flute and guitar-led rrangementç Practıcally everything you expect of an Anupam Roy song – is Main Faraar Sa. Well, there is something new about the song this time.... the lyrics! Yeah, you guessed it, almost for the first time the songs are not written by the man ( Anupam Roy ), rather Tanveer Ghazi is the one who became the lyricist this time. And I would say it didn't make much difference :) Although Anupam didn't write the song, he gave Music as well as became the Singer for his song along with a rare yet soothing and lovely voice of Hamsika Iyer. On the other hand, rumour has it that Anupam Roy has something to do with Soojit Sircar and getting a chance as a Music Composer. The reason is, well, quite logical. Despite being such a talented Music Composer, Anupam is unable to land any other project in Bollywood which doesn't have Soojit Sircar's involvement in some way or the other. Sandeep Madhavan, if you are a regular follower of Indian Music Acts, comes right from Bangalore. He is the man behind the one-man electronic act The Burning Deck. Sandeep along with Anjana Ankur Singh becomes the composer of the song Kuch To Hai. The mood of the song is very similar to that of Anupam's song. It takes on a pleasant, breezy ride. The song is beautifully sung by Bollywood's current favourite singer Jubin Nautiyal. The best part of the song was the mixing in my view. The way voice of Jubin fades into a tumult of horns and drums makes it goofy. Faraar, a song with the mood of freedom, is composed by lyricist-composer Keegan Pinto, MTV India Creative Head. The song is good but sounds too familiar to other freedom songs. Thankfully, the singing of Jubin Nautiyal sets it apart. There's another song named Bhaag Milky Bhaag (mind it, 'Milky' not 'Milkha') is also composed by Keegan Pinto and guess what, it has the same inspirational mood. Although, even Jubin Nautiyal couldn't help the song as the singer was not Jubin but Sanam Puri. And, I won't say it was too bad, but Sanam's voice doesn't quite seem to do the required job. The best part of the song is the folksy digression made by Keegan to put in a Cameo by Sonu Kakkar in between which still fails to uplift the song altogether. Pyaar Ka Test, another song which has Bappi Lahiri and Kalpana Patowary’s bexuberant delivery of Manoj Yadav’s jolly verse works perfectly in my opinion. Abhishek Arora and Akshay Verma as the lead composers of RunningShaadi did a great job. Giving the Disco Ode to Bappi Da was real intelligent from the composers Abhishek and Akshay. Labh Janjua, who unfortunately died in late 2015, sung another Punjabi Dance Music Dimpi De Naal Bhaage Bunty. What's notable is the lyrics by Shellee as well as Abhishek and Akshay's smart monitoring of the song which didn't make it sound repetitive. Sukanya Purakayastha did a beautiful job with Mannerless Majnu. One might say it has a flavour of Idiot Banna from Dangal. But who cares as long as it sound good :) Whatever be my opinion about various songs of Running Shaadi, I would always agree to the fact that it is never easy to put up a Music Album with so many composers doing what they are best at! The best song of Naam Shabana is Rozana, which rides on Shreya Ghoshal’s vocals. So as usual, she handles it magnificently! Rochak Kohli’s choice of the background is fascinating. The lovely melody of the song Rozana is something which is going to stay with you for long. Sunidhi Chauhan is back, and she does her best in Zinda., Yet for me, the tune of the song does not push beyond standard inspirational song templates. Zubi Zubi, another plagiarised song revisits Bappi Lahiri’s 1987's version (Dance Dance) of Modern Talking’s 1986 song Brother Louie. What's new? Well, it now comes in a funky techno package led by Sukriti Kakar’s cheerful voice. Jasmine Sandlas’ singing elevates Meet Bros’ Baby Besharam which is otherwise middlingly predictable. Nikhil Uzgare did a decent job delivering the title track of Irada. But surprisingly the song still doesn't manage to ring a bell. A similar issue could be found with the techno Punjabi song Mitran De sung by Master Saleem, Kaur B & Earl Edgar. Although, if you listen to it carefully the song would only seem to be a repetition of the same line again and again. It is in the second half of the album that proves singer Neeraj Shridhar's talent as a Music Composer for the film Irada. Harshdeep Kaur’s folk song Mahi single-handedly managed to excel at it, with excellent support from Shabab Sabri at the other end. Neeraj Shridhar's arrangement, although soothing, carries the shades of a composer whose songs makes up a large chunk of his Music portfolio, Pritam and Papon takes away the best song of Irada with the song named Chaand Rajai Odhe which is more like a Lullaby. Pritam crafts a lovely melody which Papon manages to deliver brilliantly with his awesomeness as always. And not to forget the serene backdrop is befitting of the song’s mood more than expected. Although surely it is an average debut as a composer from Neeraj Shridhar, yet I am personally happy to see him back.
