What I’m Reading and Thinking About this Month March 2017

A list of online blog posts and articles that I really enjoyed reading this past month.

4 Ways in Which Innovative Education Simplifies Classroom Management

At my school site we have been talking a lot about classroom management. I have been advocating that when a teacher has an engaging and innovative lesson classroom management. becomes easier. In this blog post the author shares a few reasons why she also believes that innovative teaching helps simplify classroom management.

Are We Innovating, or Just Digitizing Traditional Teaching?

I recently shared this blog post with a few teachers at my school and we had a great conversation about how for some teachers starting with digitizing traditional teaching is a start down the path to innovative teaching. If you are interested in incorporating blended learning into your classroom I highly suggest checking this out.

It's no secret that I am a fan of Cal Newport's book Deep Work. In this post Newport shares Stephen Hawking's belief that you should be productively lazy. The concept really resonated with me and is something that I am trying to do in my own life.

I really like how the author of this post created design challenges for teachers. As I start to create our next PD series at my school I want to find a way to incorporate a design challenge to help give teachers a deeper understanding of their work.

I want to check this out over the next few weeks. It looks like a great tech tool that can be implemented in a classroom with limited devices.

This looks like an awesome tool for quickly sharing student work, announcements, and upcoming events in our main office.
