North Male is the largest atoll found at the south edge of Kaafu Atoll. Known as the 'Kings Island' Male was called Mahal in the past years as it was home to the countries monarchy. A tropical monsoon climate prevails on the capital island. Some of the nation's best attractions too are located on Male; not to be missed are the Male Fish Market, Grand Friday Mosque, and Male National Museum. Look forward to experiencing underwater scooters, scuba diving and snorkeling. Shopping too is fabulous on Male home to many local handicraft markets, fashion boutiques, and retail shops. A moderate climate and exciting atmosphere makes this a must-visit destination from any one of the plush Maldives resorts.
