Also known as the Old Friday Mosque this is the oldest in the Maldives. A beautiful vintage structure created in 1656 the mosque has walls of pink coral inscribed with Arabic scripts. Decorative and traditional wooden doors and panels enhance the place, highlighting the utterly serene ambience that permeates the entire compound. The adjoining cemetery is home to elegant tombs that mark the final resting place of kings, queens, sultans and national heroes.
