Makati is not all concrete jungle. At times you need to get away from the excitement and glitz of this fabulous place look for these verdant sanctuaries as a means of rejuvenating mind-body and soul.

Rizal Park

Makati maybe Manilas business district but if you hanker for some rest and relaxation there is always a beautiful park close at hand. Rizal Park is located on Roxas Boulevard. The place has historical significance as this is the place national hero Jose Rizal was executed. The park can get quite crowded with families, couples and singles out to enjoy the outdoors however despite this the place is a good place to relax and interact with nature. Best of all it is within the Manila metropolis and easy to reach from a Manila hotel in Makati.

Paco Park

This in contrast to the previous park offers non-crowded, quiet and serene environs to relax and unwind in. The scenic park is a favoured venue for weddings and family picnics. The place plays hosts to regular musical concerts which in no way hinder the peaceful atmosphere of the park. Paco Park is ideal for getting away from the hustle and bustle of Makati whether you are on a business or leisure trip. The park is located at Belen, Paco Manila and is open from 8 am to 5 pm.

Fort Santiago Manila

This beautiful park is located within the walled city also known as Intramuros. The place is loved for its well-preserved Spanish architecture and stunning landscaped gardens. Many aspects of the park pertain to some point of Manila's history; the most important aspect being that Fort Santiago was Jose Rizal's final residence before being executed. Look forward to Kalesa rides on the horse-drawn coach and snapping up pictures of military guards in full costume.

Legaspi Park, Makati

Located close to Berjaya Makati Hotel this park turns into a fascinating marketplace over the weekends. Ideal for souvenir shopping the place is a bustling hive of traders and stalls. Markets apart the park is loved for its serene atmosphere. Huge trees, glistening ponds and stone bridges create the right atmosphere that makes you forget the bustling city outside. Enjoy walks along the paths and read the inspirational quotes carved into the stone paths and benches along the way. The Park is open from 5 am to 9 pm daily and is a strictly no pet and no smoking zone.

Salcedo Park Makati

Salcedo Park opened in 2004 is most popular for its weekend markets. Tipped to be the best family park to go to, Salcedo is equipped with a playground for kids and plenty of relaxing environs for adults. Plan a family picnic at this park and enjoy a day out. Although it must be noted that Salcedo Park is a no smoking and no pet zone that also does not allow ball games.
