Top Museums in Hoi An – Hoi An's Finest Cultural Attractions

Hoi An is one of Vietnam's most historic cities, and has been deemed a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 'old-town' district is a pristinely preserved example of a 15th century trading port.

1

GAM Gemstone and Art Musem

Much like many a Hoi An resort along the likes of the Anantara Hoi An Resort, the GAM Gemstone and Art Museum seamlessly incorporated modern concepts to traditional structures. The building that houses the museum is a work of colonial architecture that is more than a hundred years old, and interestingly, also contains a wine-bar. GAM contains some of the most priceless works of Vietnamese jewellery in addition to many gem sculptures, and remarkable cut stones. After a visit to GAM it is not uncommon for guests to immediately return the very next day, as the atmosphere and staff are welcoming and there are many incredible pieces of artwork to admire.

2

Bao Tang Van Hoa Dan Gian

This is also known as the Hoi An Folk Museum, and the property itself is extraordinary as it is a massive building that has been painted black. The building also happens to be the largest of the many ancient buildings that are found in the historic town. The permanent exhibits are located on level two, and are divided into four categories which are visual art, folk art, traditional crafts and folk life. Level one is where many activities and workshops take place to promote and create awareness about the interesting nature of historic Vietnamese life.

3

Hoi An Gallery, Tuan

There are many galleries in Hoi An, but this is by far the most breathtaking when it comes to visual art. Everything involving the Tuan Gallery is so thoughtful that it is almost like a love-letter to art. The galleries are organised in a simplistic yet inviting fashion, and the range of artworks showcased is incredible. There are many contributors to the Tuan gallery ranging from established artists to extremely skilled college students. The galleries showcase incredible art that is influenced by the vibrant and colourful yet occasionally melancholic nature of Vietnam, and a visit will surely fill you with a multitude of emotions.

4

Vinahouse Museum

This is definitely the most stunning of historical attractions offered by Hoi An. The property is based on a traditional fishing village that was meticulously restored to embody traditional architectural qualities. In addition to the many old houses that were restored with masterful craftsmanship, the museum contains exhibits of various artefacts from Vietnamese history. A visit to the museum will grant you the services of a guide, free of charge, who will inform you of the many qualities of traditional Vietnamese life. One of the most highly rated experiences the museum has to offer is the restaurant, which prepares loyal takes on traditional food from the region. The noodles in particular are renowned and prepared on request in the open kitchen enabling you to appreciate the delicate process of cooking the iconic dish. If you find yourself in Vietnam, especially Hoi An, the Vinahouse Museum is an essential visit.
