“I love the movies, I love being part of the movies. The movie is about people trying to take care of each other in the face of terrible adversity. I’ve been taken care of my whole life by wonderful people who I love and who’ve loved me.”
Movie : Moonlight
"I tell my students that I teach sometimes, be in love with the process, not the result, but I really wanted this result because a bagillion people are watching, and for all the people out there who feel like there's no mirror for you, that your life isn't reflected, the Academy has your back, the ACLU has your back, we have your back. And for four years, we will not leave you along, we will not forget you."
Amen, brother. I just want to echo everything you just said and and all those things, but I also want to say thank god for my mother who proved to me through her struggles, and the struggles that Naomie Harris portrayed for all of you, that we can really be here and be somebody. Two boys from Liberty City up here on this stage representing 305. This goes out to all those black and brown boys and girls and non gender-conforming who don't see themselves, we are trying to show you you, and us. So thank you, thank you, this is for you.

To humiliate one nation with the pretext of guarding the security of another is not a new phenomenon in history and has always laid the groundwork for the creation of future divide and enmity. I hereby express my condemnation of the unjust conditions forced upon some of my compatriots and the citizens of the other six countries trying to legally enter the United States of America and hope that the current situation will not give rise to further divide between nations.

“Sting told me I was going to win tonight. I didn’t believe him. I didn’t realize that. That’s shocking. Because there’s so much incredible kind of artistry in the Harry Potter movies. I think maybe the fact that this movie, J.K. Rowling’s creation is set in the 1920s, which kind of keyed off a different sort of visual sense, might be the kind of obvious thing, but I can’t believe they never won for that incredible clockwork creation of Stuart Craig in the Harry Potter movies. I wasn’t aware of that.”
