There's haute couture, haute cuisine and now haute hackers - a small but dedicated legion of design-focused companies that give people the tools to transform their IKEA furniture beyond recognition.
Here are a select handful who take IKEA hacks to an entirely higher level (and cater shamelessly to the DIY-challenged).
Bemz started the whole Ikea personalisation thing over 10 years ago with custom slipcovers for popular models of new and discontinued Ikea sofas and chairs. Not only do they make covers that fit like the originals (some say even better) in close to 300 colours and patterns, they offer a variety of high end fabric qualities (100% cotton, pure linen, velvet etc) and collaborate with a number of international design super stars (Tom Dixon, Designers Guild, Christian Lacroix + more).
If you’ve given your Ikea sofa an original new dress (see #1 above), the next logical step is to give it new shoes. Pretty Pegs offers chic, customized feet for a variety of Ikea sofas and other types of furniture. It’s all in the details - and this detail makes a big difference.

Super Front popped onto the Ikea personalisation space a couple of years ago by doing to Ikea kitchens what Bemz does to Ikea sofas. The idea is to either buy an Ikea kitchen without the cabinet doors or remove those on an existing Ikea kitchen and replace them with a super stylish pattern or colour. They also make custom cabinet doors for Ikea bathroom vanities and wardrobes.

Same idea as Super Front, different design vibe (Super Front has a more Nordic design sensibility while Semi Handmade has a more American one). Their goal is to offer a custom made kitchen at a fraction of the cost by using Ikea’s modular cabinet structure as a base. Also make personalised doors for bathroom and media cabinets.

With a set of very neutral, anonymous looking office furniture staring them in the face after an Ikea shopping expedition, the founders of Mykea decided to jujitsu the facades of their furniture with a set of artistically rendered, removable stickers. They liked the result so much that they created Mykea - a one stop shop to get personalised stickers for many of Ikea’s popular bookcases, dressers and tables.
