Habits Which Can Actually Improve Your Life

We all have some bad habits, and sometimes they make us feel a little bit guilty. Still, some bad habits – if you don’t do that very often - can actually benefit us both psychologically as well as physiologically, as "Psychology Today" believes.

But what bad habits are good for us and what bad habits can actually be useful? Here is the list!
Lying in bed in the morning: reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke
In the morning, it is difficult to get up out of bed, and you can‘t simply understand how those people who are get up from bed at 5 am live? Stop blaming yourself for laziness, because the Japanese University researchers say that this is how you can increase your health!

Most researchers on sleep and health showed that early risers are somewhat having a larger risk of heart and circulatory diseases. More than 3 thousand healthy humans were in a study, which demonstrated that those who get up at 5 in the morning and exercised just after that, at a later age had 1.7 times greater risk of high blood pressure. Moreover, they also had more than double risk of various cardiovascular diseases than those who would get up 2-3 hours later!

Curses: help overcoming pain
Although foul language is not the most beautiful way of communication and expression of feelings, studies show their benefits. Keele University (Great Britain) researcher Richard Stephen’s performed studies have found that swearing helps to reduce perceived pain!

Participants in the study were asked to insert their hands into ice water and keep it there for a while - those who were doing that while swearing kept their hands in water for up to two minutes, and those who did not swear - up to a minute. So, bad language increased pain tolerance to 50 percent! However, scientist claim that swear words can reduce pain only if they are normally used not very often, so relax!
Computer games: help to reduce pain

Playing computer games often looks like the addiction for people who are not playing. But in fact, apart from the fact, that continuously playing computer games actually are harmful to health, the researchers say that sometimes these activities can be helpful.

Many studies have shown that children with cancer, who played computer games after chemotherapy, demanded far fewer painkillers than those who were not playing. The same results were made with adult people who had burns or severe back pain. Scientists believe this is due to the fact that games are very efficiently diverting attention away from the pain in the brain.

Daydreaming: helps to solve the problems
Daydreaming can take up to one-third of our total daily time and often it is considered as procrastination or laziness. However, research has shown that "performing brain network,” even when we are daydreaming is extremely active. So, there is nothing wrong to dream about that new dress or maybe even starting your own start-up company one day, because you are actually dealing with a lot of stuff in your mind at that time - you just don't know it!

Scientist Kalina Christoff with colleagues proved that dreams activate those parts of the brain that are responsible for problems. Her study revealed that daydreaming is an important cognitive state during which the human focus on the specific activity is directed to the subconscious thinking about personal problems.
"When you start to dream during lessons or a call, maybe you can miss something useful, but in fact, your mind uses that time to solve other important questions of your life," - says Christoff.

Restlessness: helps to burn calories
A restless man, constantly turning around, moving his leg or doing other small activities may cause frustration to others. However, as it turns out, this feature has pluses.

Many types of research done in the obesity clinic “Mayo” by its expert James Levine, showed that such people even without working out, burns around 350 calories per day alone on this action. So if you are always moving around and can’t sit calmly for a while – be proud of yourself and tell your colleague that you are working out!
