La La Land received the most nominations with a record-tying fourteen (1950's All About Eve and 1997's Titanic also achieved this distinction). Based on the play In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue by Tarell Alvin McCraney. The film stars Trevante Rhodes, André Holland, Janelle Monáe, Ashton Sanders, Jharrel Jerome, Naomie Harris and Mahershala Ali.
Filmed in Miami, Florida, beginning in 2015, Moonlight premiered at the Telluride Film Festival on September 2, 2016. Distributed by A24, the film was released in the United States on October 21, 2016 and has grossed $16 million worldwide.
Movie : La La Land
American director and screenwriter. Chazelle made his directorial debut with the musical Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench (2009). In 2014, he wrote and directed his second feature film, Whiplash, based on his award-winning 2013 short film of the same name. For La La Land, he was nominated for several awards including two Academy Awards for Best Original Screenplay and Best Director, Directors Guild of America Award for Best Director, Writers Guild of America Award for Best Original Screenplay, two BAFTA Award for Best Original Screenplay and Best Director and won two Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Screenplay and Best Director and also two Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay and Best Director, with the film receiving itself at the 74th Golden Globe Awards a record-breaking seven Golden Globes.
Movie : Manchester by the Sea
American actor and director. He began his career as a child actor, appearing in the PBS television movie Lemon Sky (1988) and the ABC miniseries The Kennedys of Massachusetts (1990). For Manchester by the Sea, he won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Drama and has been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor.

American actress. Born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona, Stone began acting as a child, in a theater production of The Wind in the Willows in 2000. As a teenager, she relocated to Los Angeles with her mother, and made her television debut in VH1's In Search of the New Partridge Family (2004). La La Land—in which she played an aspiring actress living in Los Angeles. Stone borrowed several real-life experiences for her character, and in preparation, watched The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and films of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.

An American actor; Ali began his career as a regular on series such as Crossing Jordan and Threat Matrix before his breakthrough role as Richard Tyler in the science-fiction series The 4400. His first major film release was in the 2008 David Fincher-directed romantic fantasy drama film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.For his performance in the 2016 film as drug dealer Juan in Moonlight, Ali received universal acclaim from critics and was nominated for an Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, SAG Award and won the Critics' Choice Award for Best Supporting Actor.
Movie : Fences
American producer and actress of stage, screen, and television. After graduating from the Juilliard School in 1993, Davis began her career on stage and won an Obie Award in 1999 for her performance as Ruby McCollum in Everybody's Ruby. She reprised her role as Rose Maxson in the film adaptation of Fences, for which she has won the Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress. She was also nominated for an Academy Award for the role, making her the first black actress to receive three Academy Award nominations.
