Coffee shops in Colombo - Enjoy the best of Colombo's Coffee scene

A cup of Joe is commonplace here in the big city, with cafes at every street corner. Watch out for that "freshly-ground" aroma! Here's 10 cool stops you can make for coffee and eats.

1

Tea Avenue

This couch-comfy hangout serves up some decadent desserts like red velvet cake with cream cheese filling and strawberry cocoa lavish that's fully worth the price and delicious drinks like the hazelnut cappuccino and the Ferrero lavish which is a must-try.

2

Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf

It's no secret that the coffee here is simply the best. Coffee Bean is easily the king with its array of meaty sandwiches, wraps and of course the beloved blueberry cheesecake. It's worth mentioning that you try the "Ice Blended" version of any drink off their coffee menu of which the caramel latte is an easy favourite.

3

Rama's Tea House

Don't let the name confuse you. Sometimes coffee shops are more about the eats than the actual coffee. This is the place where Harry Potter fans can share their deep love for the warm and rich butterscotch float "butterbeer" which Rama's so amazingly has on the menu! You can also enjoy excellent portions of garlic rice, fish and chips and deep-fried Mars bars.

4

Coco Veranda

Surrounded by entertainment hubs and office space in Colombo, this has become somewhat of a popular hangout spot for teenagers and young adults. You get a choice of the usual coffee shop savouries and sweets but they've also introduced menus for three course meals. Stop by at Crescat Boulevard near Shangri - La One Galle Face for a quick bite or a steaming cuppa.

5

Barista

Located right next to Majestic City, this is the perfect place to relax with a hot cuppa after a long day of shopping. They've also got some tasty eats and it is a must that you try their yummy brownies.

6

Whight and Co.

This is probably one of the few that actually grows and roasts their own coffee. You'll be enjoying some truly sensational cold drip coffee if you stop over. The coffee in general is of high quality and unique taste and they serve up very tasty burger dishes indeed.

7

Java Lounge

What makes this coffee stop friendly is its wonderful homely ambience. You can sink into an armchair and order yourself on of their ice caramel machiatos but truth be told, this is more of a grab and go sort of place so if a morning without caffeine in your system frightens you, make a small stop over here.

8

Commons Coffee House

Here's another joint that's known not for the coffee it serves. Commons does some tasty rottis and yummy desserts and the coffee is good as well. It's mostly a great place to relax and hang out with friends over some delicious grub.

9

Hansa Coffee

Hansa is just the right spot to open a book and get lost in it for a few hours while your order of Thai coffee, spiced coffee or condensed milk coffee comes to your table. Choose from their menu of delightful chocolate desserts, sandwiches and drinks like the Brownie Shake and Expresso Chocolate Truffle.

10

Brown Bean Coffee

Lakpahana's Good Market is usually teeming with fresh produce and healthy snacks and it is also hiding a pretty sweet coffee shop at the back where organic coffees are made with Peruvian coffee beans. Stop by early and grab the sweet treat of the day from the cookie jar at the counter.
