Turtle Watching

Turtle watching is most certainly a top attraction in Tangalle; a town favoured by soft sandy beaches and a turquoise blue bay. The most popular beach for turtle watching is Rekawa; easily found about 10kms on the eastern quarter of the town. You will be treated to sights of Leatherbacks and Green Hawks Bill Turtles depending on the time of year you visit the beach. April to September are months most favoured by giant turtles that come in with the tide to lay eggs on the beach under the light of the moon. The magic of nature certainly cannot get better than this treat, making your trek to the romantic beach at night even more enchanting.
