Certainly one of the most beautiful coastal points in Oman, the stunning beaches of Salalah promises to awe. An amalgamation of history, culture and nature await you along the beautiful Dhofar Coast.
Tipped to be some of the best amongst Oman's stunning beaches those in Salalah offer expansive coastlines and golden beaches that attract large numbers of visitors from around the globe. Omani beaches are loved by surfers, nature lovers and those hankering for sun sand and surf due to ideal conditions and natural settings. If you are planning on visiting Salalah for its beach life consider the monsoon season when desert heats are milder and the weather more inviting and conducive for life on the beach. The region certainly is beautiful and offers loads of culture, history and interactions with nature making your stay both fun and fulfilling.
Certainly one of the most popular beaches around Salalah and the gorgeous Dhofar Coast, Mughsail Beach is loved for its good breaks and top surfing opportunities. Best of all, the place is home to a blowhole that shoots water as high as a 100 feet during certain times of the year. There is a lovely rock shelf along the beach that's ideal for enjoying walks while listening to the sound of the crashing waves below. Typical of Omani backgrounds this beach is surrounded by the handsome desert; expect stunning views of the rocky mountain and rustic scenery all lulled by the crashing waves. Yes, Mughsail Beach is quite stunning and appeals to the sporty surfer as well as the romantic lover out for some fresh air from the confines of his charming Salalah resort.
If you are up for some lagoon safaris and seaside action consider heading to the south coast of Dhofar there close to the Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara you will come to an area serviced by both sea and a fresh water lagoon. The area is quite stunning and is also within close proximity to the
Al Baleed Archaeological Park a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy the best of both worlds as you discover the cultural treasures of Oman and bask on one of the most beautiful beaches in the region. A boat ride along the verdant lagoon will take you to the ruins of Al Baleed City once visited by Marco Polo and still quite stunning. The beach area being well serviced by Salalah hotels has encouraged plenty of water sports activities such as kayaking, diving, snorkelling and boating.
Towards the western edge of Salalah Rakhyut is a somewhat deserted beach that is quite stunning. Situated close to the Yemeni Border the beach is home to a charming little town. Look forward to tranquil settings and plan a picnic on the beach coupled with loads of relaxation. Rakhyut is also a surfer's paradise; offering ideal breaks for endless hours on the board. May, June and September are considered the most conducive months for catching the best breaks influenced by the monsoon swells off the Indian Ocean. Mind you since this is a rather isolated beach surfers are advised to take necessary precautions and keep their plans updated with either hotels or tour guides.
The Salalah beaches are loved for their pristine appearance and unspoilt surroundings; apart from this, you can also experience a variety of water activities such as jet skiing, diving, snorkelling amongst the many coral reefs, kayaking and much more.
