The beautiful Maldivian archipelago made up of 26 natural coral atolls is a treat to explore. Each unique unspoilt destination will awe and inspire. Listed are 5 of the best locations here.
Fua Mulaku is located around the south of the Maldivian archipelago. It is thought of as the smallest of all atolls due to the place being made up of only one island. However, this single island is the largest of all islands in the Maldives and is a fertile ground where many crops are grown. Mangoes, oranges and pineapples not cultivated anywhere else on the archipelago are grown here. The sea surrounding the island is a special azure blue and the inviting sandy beaches are ideal for relaxing on and tasting some of the juicy tropical fruit grown on the island. Take along the cameras folks for this solitary island is indeed a sight to behold.
No one would argue that Fish Head is just one of the world's top dive sites. Located within the North Ari Atoll the area is a treat to seasoned divers and wonder to first timers. Huge schools of Grey Reef sharks promise to impress while other marine life forms such as fusiliers, huge barracudas and extremely impressive looking Napoleon are yours to observe. The marine life, however, is not all that impresses at Fish Head; your dive is enhanced with sights of beautiful black coral, impressive rocky outcrops and mysterious underwater caves well worth exploring. Do consider getting onto a dive tour for the best experience, as well versed instructors will take you to the best sites around Fish Head for an overall awesome experience.
If you are lost in paradise enjoying the luxury of well-appointed Maldives villas, remember that an experience equally matched in wonder is snorkelling. A sport that can be enjoyed as a family and anyone with swimming capabilities, snorkelling is available right off the beach of your Maldives resort. The coral atolls are teeming with all manner of colourful marine life but if you want to see more on a snorkelling tour consider places such as Turtle Point. Easily reached from Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives, this point is home to huge clusters of colourful coral, clown fish, reef sharks and yes, turtles.
Diving or snorkeling or simply swimming with the giant manta rays of Maldives is quite the experience and visiting Manta Point lets you do just that. Huge mantas measuring 25 feet and weighing a staggering 5,000 pounds can be spotted here.
If you want to delve deeper into the Maldivian culture plan a visit to the capital Male. There you should visit Hukuru Miskiiy the oldest mosque on Maldives; built with pink coral walls, intricate wood carvings and Arabic inscriptions on the walls the place is an iconic attraction. The Maldivian Museum is another treasure trove where you will come across ancient artefacts and heirlooms depicting the fisher nation's journey through time. At Male, you will come across a number of souvenir markets and charming cafes where local snacks and a cup of tea are ideal for relaxing and observing local culture.
