IT governance, or IS governance as I prefer to call it, is all about the accountability of senior management for the control of IT and for delivering value to the business though the use of technology. This is possible only by having a structured framework for the control and measurability of IT, along with the tools to assess and measure an organisation's IT environment. The Management Guidelines for COBIT (Control Objectives for Information and related Technology) provide just the framework and tools that are required by senior management for these purposes.
