Batticaloa Lagoon is a curious creation of nature. There are several islands scatters through the lagoon such as Buffalo Island, Bone Island, and Puliyantheevu Island. You need not seek help from a car rental in Sri Lanka to explore these islands as they are all interconnected via bridges and walkways. It is recommended that you walk through the network of islands to better understand its beauty. However, the most alluring feature of the Lagoon is its singing fish. If you visit the Lagoon on nights of the full moon in April or September, you would hear a low thrum emanating from the water. To best hear this musical miracle, go out to sea in a boat, and lean your ear against the submerged oar. You will be treated to a rhythm unlike any you have heard before.
