Maldives is, in essence, a paradise. A smattering of land that appears to have been randomly dropped in a clear blue sea, the toughest thing is to select only ten places to list under most pristine.
Malé is the capital of Maldives and is one of the largest islands. It is the largest city in the country and is often the first place a tourist would visit. Malé is important for its cultural significance, and way of life. It is now called the "King's Island" and reflects the dynastic history of Maldives through its structure. If you visit the Malé National Museum, the Tsunami Monument, and the Grand Friday Mosque, this will become quite evident.
Also known as Nalaguraidhoo Island, this is the best place for couples and honeymooners. Lush greenery with gorgeous sun-kissed flowers, alluring blue waters accompanied by the softest sand, a number of Maldives resorts catering for lovers is located on Sun Island.
Currently known as Baros, this small island is located about 25 minutes away from Malé. It is home to the Baros Maldives resort and is accredited as being one of the first three resorts to open in the nation of Maldives. This history is well preserved on the island to date.
A reef that is shaped like a banana, this is the first place in Maldives to receive a licence for diving. Thus, it is naturally a hotspot for scuba diving and related activities that focus on observing the exotic marine life.
Man-made, as is evident by the name, this is the place to be if you are looking for an upbeat time involving carnivals and music performances. There are water competitions to take part in as well. However, a dress code is in effect at the Artificial Beach.
This is a protected reef that is much sought after by tourists. The high density of marine creatures attract visitors, but no one is allowed to venture too close as the security of the creatures takes precedence at the HP Reef.
Fihalhohi Island is as close as it gets to the postcard perfect Maldivian landscape. Palm fringed beaches, white sand, and clear waters, the serenity of this island is more suited towards honeymooners and those seeking seclusion.
Home of Sultan Mohamed Thakurufaanu, this is an important landmark in the Maldivian history. There is a museum dedicated to the Sultan as well as his home, both of which are must-visits for someone looking to understand Maldivian history.
A perfect location rich in clear waters and beautiful reefs has helped Biyadhoo Island to earn the name "Scuba Diving Island". It also has a rich vegetation of fresh vegetables, something you would get to taste if you have a meal here.
A small island that is in close proximity to a lagoon, the marine life found here is different. The lagoon provides a fresh catch for the meals and a green environment that exudes serenity is the main attraction at Veligandu Island.
