Dunhinda Falls

Dunhida Falls is one of the most beautiful and most famous waterfalls in Sri Lanka. Located on the Mahiyangana Road, the waterfall is located about 25 kilometres from Ella, close to Badulla. The picturesque waterfall is named after the white mist created by the cascade. The word 'Dun' translates to mist in Sinhala. The water fall is fed by the Badula Oya and cascades down an impressive height of 60 metres. In order to reach this magnificent creation of nature, you will have to walk along a path which will take you to a smaller waterfall known as Kuda Dunhinda or Small Dunhinda Falls. Once you have passed the small waterfall and reached the end of the path, you will find a secure observation spot from which you can view the Dunhinda Falls in all its glory!

Ravana Ella

Ravana Ella is a highly popular waterfall in Sri Lanka. At a height of 25 metres, Ravana Ella is one of the widest waterfalls in the country. If you visit during the rainy season, the water stream is particularly thick and provides an incredible view. Ravana Ella is located a little way off the Ella – Kithalella Road. It is a part of the Ravana Ella Wildlife Sanctuary. Named after King Ravana, the waterfall has a fascinating legend attached to it. In order to avoid confusion with the large Ravana Ella, this waterfall is often referred to as the Bambaragama Falls. It is located on the Ella-Wellawaya Road, a highly popular route and close to the Udunuwara Village. Bambaragama waterfall flows through the Bandarawela Hill Oya Reservoir and cascades down 9 metres. If you visit the waterfall during or after the rainy season, you will find the Bambaragama Waterfall at its most spectacular.

Diyaluma Falls

The stunning Diyaluma Falls is the second highest waterfall on the island. At a height of 220 metres, the beautiful waterfall is located about 40 kilometres from Ella, close to Koslanda. Diyaluma Falls is formed by the Punagala Oya, a tributary of Kuda Oya. It is a truly stunning sight to watch the water cascading down the Koslanda Plateau. As with most waterfalls, Diyaluma is also extremely beautiful after a rain and during the rainy seasons. Travellers can easily find Diyaluma Falls as it is located along the side of the main road.
