The dogs however must be kept on a leash at all times, and are only allowed before 9am and after 6pm during summer time and before 9am and after 4pm during winter time. The waves at Thirroul beach are a bit stronger due to the little wind protection the area allows, but for a gentler aquatic experience there's a big saltwater pool that visitors can even swim in. Thirroul beach is also quite safe, being patrolled from September to April.
