5 Must See TV Shows of 2016

Penny Dreadful’s superb second season ends in a manner that leaves one doubtful about its future. It divvies up its assortment of sundries to the corners of the Earth, each having its own mission that left you thinking that they might never reunite. The challenges faced in Season 3 were designed to create a reason for things to come in Season 4 and to do what this show does so well, combine the familiar and the new.

The most recent chapter of the series has likely been its most emotional and thoughtful one, with the season finale ending on a heartbreaking note on March 2, 2016 – Mike cancels his wedding to the love of his love whose support was unwavering throughout his trial for fraud. Mike has Harvey drive him to prison and we watch him walk into the toughest and darkest chapter of his life wearing his wedding tuxedo.

At the end of season one, there were a number of story arcs that were left up in the air, including why Six was abruptly accompanied by the Galactic Authority. We were never given a clear answer on The Android’s strange feelings, nor were we told why Five was motivated to supposedly execute the mind wipe. With season two coming, fans will have an opportunity to resolve some of these mysteries.

In 2016, Outlander received three nominations for the Golden Globe awards that included best lead actress, best supporting actor, and best drama. Recently, fans at the Critics’ Choice Awards named Outlander the most binge-worthy show of 2016. In addition, the series received a Costume Designers Guild Awards (CDGA) nomination this year.

In some ways, this season is really season 4A, rather than season 4, considering where it ended, addressing a very old grievance by giving President Francis Underwood, played by Kevin Spacey, an opponent worthy of him – namely, his strong wife, Claire, played by Robin Wright. It needed an attempted assassination to bring the energetic duo back together.

When Frank blesses Claire’s affair it clearly shows the morphing of their partnership into a completely professional relationship, lust for power displacing more conventional matrimonial bonds.
