Things to do in Krabi with Kids – The Family Archipelago

Made up of a 100 little islands, gorgeous white sand beaches & crystal clear waters for swimming in, Krabi is a popular family holiday destination on the Andaman Sea. Here are some family activities.

1

Dining and Shopping in Ao Nang

The stretch of road that meanders towards Ao Nang Beach in Krabi dotted with restaurants and shops; it is therefore quite a popular tourist location. Ao Nang itself is a predominantly Muslim village which means that halal meals are available at most restaurants. The shops are well stocked with beachwear and souvenirs that are quite popular amongst the family shoppers out for a stroll under sunny skies. Parents will love the aromatherapy massages on offer at the many massage parlours also located along this stretch of road. You should consider a Krabi family hotel that allows parents free time to explore the resort and relax; many of these family-friendly resorts offer children's activity centres to keep the young tykes occupied.

2

Enjoy Ao Nang Beach

Beautiful Ao Nang Beach offers a large sandy embankment to play on. Dotted with sights of long tail boats bobbing on the wave the place is ideal for a family to enjoy some sun and sand. The sea is not serviced by lifeguards hence swimming is with children is not advised. It is also a base from which you can set off on island hopping tours via the many longtail boats marooned there.

3

The Krabi Emerald Pool

The Emerald Pool is located in the middle of a rainforest. It is also called the crystal pool and offers warm temperature spring water to soak in. Kids will love the 8-metre trek through the forest to reach the pool; as the path leads past verdant jungle trees and offers glimpses of the exotic wildlife there. The Emerald green pool is about 1.5 metres in depth and is a refreshing dip after your trek through the trees.

4

The Blue Lagoon

Just past the Emerald Pool is the Blue Lagoon. Getting there is via a raised platform that threads its way through lush foliage. The bright blue of the pool is quite striking especially when it appears in the middle of the forest like a shining blue oasis. Note however that the pool is not one you can swim in; the water temperatures are way too high plus quicksand surrounds the pool as a kind of natural barricade to keep the pool unpolluted and clean.

5

The Hot Springs Waterfall

Continue through the jungle on a cement platform and you will come to this marvellous waterfall. The water gushes out from thermal springs located in volcanic chambers and is quite revitalising. Plus loads of fun is in store for the whole family.

6

Changlang Beach Favours

As a family the least crowded a resort is the better; Krabi is favoured by families as it is not home to as many night clubs and adult oriented fun as other resorts are. Changlang Beach is ideal for enjoying the sun, sand and surf away from the crowds. There are many 'family friendly' luxury resorts to choose from; for instance, Anantara Si Kao Resort offers kids the thrills of feeding fish as just one of the child-oriented activities, these Krabi resorts offer the family holidaymaker.
