It is very safe to say that any movie that makes more then $1 billion worldwide will have a sequel, so Fast and Furious 8 was going to be a no-brainer. Although, Fast and Furious 7 gave real closure, and raised plenty of questions.

Fast and Furious 7 was supposed to begin a brand new trilogy of the Fast and Furious films, although once Paul Walker passed, the plan was changed.
James Wan even confirmed that the original ending of Fast and Furious 7 would have lead on to new stories, but it was revealed that there would be more films when Vin Diesel let it slip at the very end of Fast and Furious 7, Kurt Russell would be added into the storyline from here on out.
In the interview on Jimmy Kimmel show, Diesel let it drop that the crew would be heading to New York City for a change of scenery, and go up against Mr. Nobody. The movies were always based in L.A., but they also went back to Southern California with Fast and Furious 7. Now the series is taking a turn to visit the Big Apple.
The infamous Tokyo Drift hero, Sean Boswell will return to the big screen in Fast and Furious 8. In Fast and Furious 6, Han was killed by Deckard Shaw, so Dom went to Tokyo to collect the body of his friend, and met up with Sean to get information.
