Here's a list of some of the best beaches on Eleuthera, Bahamas. Vote for your favorite or make a suggestion.
Lighthouse Beach is at the southern tip of Eleuthera and consider by many the #1 beach on the island for its remoteness and raw beauty. It's a bit of a trip and the last part of the journey is rough but so worth it.
French Leave Beach in Governor's Harbour is considered by many as one of the best. It's especially good for walking at low tide due to the hard sand. It too has a wonderful pink hue. The remains of the former Club Med resort can also be seen to the left.
Gaulding Cay Beach is just north of Gregory Town and almost always has calm waters. It's a great place to just float in the water or sit in the shade and enjoy the day.
Ten Bay Beach is on what is called the Caribbean side but that's an entirely accurate as the island is surrounded by the waters of the Atlantic. However this side generally has calm waters and is great for families and children due to its shallow depth. There are trees lining the side and it's a great beach to cool off, lay in the shade or just spend the day. It's easy to get to and just south of Palmetto Point off of the Queen's Highway.
Twin Cove Beach is in Governor's Harbour on the Atlantic side. When the tide is right there is a sandbar that separates the coves and you can walk out to a small cay.
Whiteland Beach is just south of Rock Sound and a bit tricky to get to but so worth it as you can see. It's remote and has trees lining the edge which provide for some shade. When the tide is right you can walk for ages, swim, snorkeling and probably see very few other people. It's one of the more stunning beaches in our opinion.
If you are a surfer, you've probably heard of Surfer's Beach in Eleuthera. The best months for surfing tend to be the winter ones and the surfer's shack is almost legendary.
This is the three mile long pink sand beach in Harbour island.
Savannah Sound Beach is naturally in Savannah Sound with Windemere Island on the outer side. It's not a great beach for swimming but it's a beautiful beach that lends itself to long walks when the tide is low. As you can see you could literally walk for miles on the shore or in the shallow water at the edge.
Northside Beach, 2 miles of white/pink soft sandy beach
The Navy or Airport Beach is a long beach which was once a US Navy facility and which is also by the Governor's Harbour airport. It is miles long and the odds on seeing anyone are relatively low. Walking is best done at low tides when you can get near the water and the hard sand and the surf tends to be a bit rougher than some other Northside beach due to a lack of reefs
