Karen is originally from Corpus Christi, TX but has lived in the Houston area for 17 years. She was a junior high and high school English teacher after graduating from Sam Houston State University. Karen earned her M.Ed. in counseling from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and worked in the mental health field for about 15 years (including positions in St. Louis, MO; Kerrville, TX; and Houston, TX).
From 2005 – 2013 Karen was on staff at Mental Health America of Greater Houston (MHAGH), first as Outreach Specialist, then as Program Coordinator.
