Top Winter Wedding Bridal Looks

Winter is the perfect season to add beauty and drama to your wedding outfit. Take cues from rich and festive colours, be inspired by wintry staples and include plenty of sparkle to emulate the frostier weather. Here are our favourite ideas for creating a wonderfully wintry bridal look, whether you want something traditional or something a little more subtle:

Winter wedding dress colours

An all-white wedding can be a stunning way to celebrate in winter, especially if you’re lucky enough to have snow! Opt for an ice white dress with silver crystal embellishments and make your look immaculate with matching white shoes and white or silver accessories.

Red is also a traditional hue which can create a warmer feel. If a completely red dress is too daring, add a dash of colour to your winter look with bold red lips or a red sash around the waist.

For something less traditional, look to cool and muted shades of pale blue and pink or a dark purple, which could be used in your accessories and matched with your bouquet. A silver gown also screams winter and would be a stylishly different way to incorporate a winter theme to your wedding outfit.

Your wedding dress style

Heavier fabrics are ideal for winter occasions and you can really go all out with a dramatic train or full bodied skirt. Look for dresses with tulle skirts to keep things airy and romantic.

To keep warm in the chilly season wrapping up is a must, which is why full A-line, layered skirts are a great choice. Layer your bridal gown with a long hooded cape, a pretty capelet or a beautiful winter coat. If you’re looking for something really in keeping with a winter wonderland theme, wrap up in a fur shoal or cropped fur jacket.

Long sleeved dresses will keep you warmer but they don’t have to cover you completely. Elegant lace and illusion detailing sleeves, or sleeves in a three-quarter length will give you the coverage you need but still show off your arms. Or, you could opt for sophisticated vintage styles with draping embellished sleeves.

As well as your arms you may want to keep your neckline covered in chillier weather, especially if you’ll be having your hair in an up do. We love illusion necklines in nude and transparent fabrics, encrusted with sparkles for an ultimate winter bridal look. A sweetheart neckline with a collar is also a good option to cover your neck and keep you warmer.

Amp up the sparkle with crystal accessories, such as a brooch or intricate hairpiece, for a frostier feel. Complement the scattered crystals and pearls on your dress with matching adornments on your heels, clutch or veil, so you’ll be shining in the winter light.
