Things to Pack for your Beach Holiday – How to Enjoy the Sun, Surf and Sand

The phrase 'beach holiday' almost always spells Sri Lanka; a tropical island skirted by magnificent coasts is hard to resist if you are a sun worshiper. So, let's learn to pack for the tropics!

1

Length of the Holiday

Packing for a beach holiday is hard; especially if you are from colder climates. The main factor to consider is the duration of your stay; consider this together with an average count of how many times you will change clothes. The tropics mean humid hot climates, that results in more sweating and sticky clothes. Hence you may need to change outfits at least twice or thrice a day; unless you plan on chilling all day by the pool or beach in nothing but your bathing suit. Couple this factor with the duration of your stay and pack clothing accordingly. Also remember that a luxury Sri Lanka beach resort will provide excellent laundry facilities which means you don't have to take along too many outfits.

2

Number of Tops is Crucial

Consider the number of tops you wear in a day; a good pair of shorts or cotton pants will last most parts of the day but it is our tops that meet with unexpected accidents such as spills and smears. Take along the appropriate number of tops for each day within a two day gap leaving enough time for one batch to be dry cleaned and returned.

3

Bottoms and Rainy Weather

If you are heading to Sri Lanka check the weather patterns; the country is predominantly sunny all year round save the monsoon periods. Even then the weather can be quite warm. Your best bet is a pair of cotton ¾ length pants. These will serve a multipurpose task helping you to walk around puddles and keep cool at the same time. Plus cottons dry easily and can be washed and worn with no hassle.

4

Shorts Must be Practical

Pack at least 3 pairs of shorts that are not denims. Cottons are comfortable, dry fast and are ideal for walks and splashes in the ocean. If you are staying at a beach resort chances are you will be treated to lawns offering beach front access; this almost always means quick excursions to the beach after breakfast, lunch and tea. Take along a pair of shorts that you don't mind leaving behind for occasions when you wade into the inviting waves in your clothes. A hotel Wadduwa town is home to will provide excursions to many areas and beautiful beaches along the southern coast making a dip in the sea hard to resist whether you have a swimsuit or not.

5

Take Along Proper Swimwear

A beach holiday in a tropical country means you will spend a lot of time in the water. The warm Indian Ocean lapping at the shores of Sri Lanka is hard to resist; as such it is important to consider a bathing suit that is practical for swimming and not just chilling and looking good on the beach.

6

Sun Screen and Shades

Take along enough sunscreen to last the holiday. You can always buy more but the country may not stock a brand you prefer. It is important to shield your skin and eyes from the damaging rays of the sun; as such a good pair of shades, for use on excursions and time on the beach is a necessity as is sun screen and a good hat.
