If you are visiting Sri Lanka, touring the iconic Sigiriya Rock is one thing you absolutely cannot miss out on. The mighty rock surrounded by the thick jungle is itself a sight to savour and that topped with the rich dose of its history makes it just as interesting as it is beautiful. Throughout your exploration of the Sigiriya Rock you will come across several places ideal to capture pictures. For one, the entrance surrounded by moats and water gardens is grand and majestic. Then you get the ancient frescoes, the 6th century mighty lion's paw, and an absolutely stunning view from the top of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. After all, you need to climb 1,024 steps to get to the very top so you can just imagine how beautiful the bird's eye views should be; that on a photograph is perfection wrapped in a bow. There is an artistic side to the spirituality witnessed in Sri Lanka and this is highly evident in places like Dambulla. Dambulla is home to a number of cave temples that go several centuries back in time – precisely to the 3rd century B.C. The best part is most of the paintings and monuments witnessed here have weathered the storms of time and is still almost just as beautiful as it was when it first came to life. The Golden Buddha that adorns the entrance to the temple is an ideal place to kick-start your photography session and the caves each have statues and paintings on its walls that account for yet another series of pictures. Mountainous scenery always accounts for some of the most beautiful landscape shots and the best part is the heart of Sri Lanka is adorned with a world of mountains. Perhaps the most beautiful of the mountainous scenery in Sri Lanka is located in Nuwara Eliya. Nuwara Eliya is a tranquil little city that looks as though it landed from age old England. The colonial touch is strongly evident here and everything from the well preserved building from the yesteryears to the beautifully landscaped Lake Gregory, make ideal places for photographs. Visit Nuwara Eliya in the month of April and you can capture the colourful array of flowers; this without doubt is the most ideal season for this chilly and enchanting city.
