At this particular turtle hatchery every stage of the turtle's life cycle is beautifully displayed and some of the rarest varieties are even cared for here.

A highly venerated temple, the Kande Viharaya showcases the spiritual side of Bentota and is located in Aluthgama which is just a couple of kilometres from Bentota. Housing the tallest sitting Buddha statue in the world the temple attracts a number of visitors from both Sri Lanka and other parts of the world. The Kande Viharaya was constructed in 1734 by the Ven. Dedduwa Dhammananda Thero and to this day the ambience of tranquillity is strongly evident in this temple. As a result visitors tend to enjoy a soothing experience while walking through this sacred place of worship.
