Christian apologetics is that branch of Christianity that deals with answering any and all critics who oppose or question the revelation of God in Christ and the Bible. It can include studying such subjects as biblical manuscript transmission, philosophy, biology, mathematics, evolution, and logic. But it can also consist of simply giving an answer to a question about Jesus or a Bible passage. The latter case is by far the most common and you don’t have to read a ton of books to do that.
The Basic Apologetics Course is designed for those who wish to be better equipped to reach non-believers by giving honest answers to honest questions with gentleness and respect. This 20-lecture series includes four sets: Reasons for Faith, Responding to Atheism, Objections to Faith and Responding to New Age and Cults.

Rev. Dr. K. Scott Oliphint (PhD, Westminster Theological Seminary) is professor of apologetics and systematic theology at Westminster Theological Seminary. Dr. Oliphint’s academic interests include Cornelius Van Til’s apologetics, the relationship between Christian apologetics and philosophy, and the doctrine of God.
A careful biblical and theological development of a consistent apologetic. The course provides a basis for the evaluation of various empirical systems as well as a working knowledge of presuppositionalism for use in all aspects of practical ministry. Evangelism is then studied within this framework to present the student with a consistent gospel presentation for biblical evangelism.
Apologetics Basics is designed to provide a foundational understanding of what Christian Apologetics is and why it is important to practice. According to 1 Peter 3:15, all believers are called to defend the faith they hold dear. This course will examine that call and seek to provide basic answers to the major questions that are commonly raised against the Christian faith.
Dr. Jon Rittenhouse addresses some of the primary issues confronting Christianity today. In addition to defending the conventions of Christian thought and ideology, Rittenhouse reveals the inconsistencies of many rival viewpoints including scientism and relativism.
Dr. Groothuis is a gifted communicator who has the ability to challenge the highest level thinkers while remaining accessible to those who are not as academically inclined. He has spoken and preached on a wide range of topics, and that range expands every year. Some general categories in which he is competent 8801are theistic arguments, attacks on Christianity (the new atheism and similar movements), non-Christian spiritualities, cultural and social criticism, comparative religion, and C.S. Lewis.
Dr. Edgar belongs to a number of learned societies, including the American Musicological Society, the Evangelical Theological Society, the American Historical Association, and the Society for Ethnomusicology. He serves on several boards, including the Huguenot Fellowship (President). He is on the editorial committee of La Revue Réformée. He regularly takes part as a speaker in the Veritas Forum programs. He also serves on the Institutional Review Board and the Medical Ethics Committee of The Chestnut Hill Hospital.
Stand Firm is a sixteen-lesson video-driven introductory apologetics course that may be used for group or individual study. The individual videos are each about half an hour long and should be viewed prior to answering the discussion questions in the study guide.
