This trail starts besides the Shing Mun River; it is a lovely trail that meanders past many iconic attractions. You will be cycling past the Hong Kong Science Park, the Pak Shek Kok Promenade as well as the Tolo Cycling Trak. This is undoubtedly one of the most picturesque routes in Hong Kong. You will pass sunny little cafes along the way while the beautiful Tai Po Waterfront awaits you at the end of the trail. The trek is estimated to last a total of 3 hours, although tourists wanting to take it easy can make it a full day tour of leisurely cycling across the best of Hong Kong. Bikes are available for rent in the park.
Head over to the scenic confines of Tai Po Park and rent a bike. The route is quite a treat as you get to explore the 17th century Tai Wong Yeh temple built by fishermen and host to the famous Tai Wong Yeh annual festival. Another iconic attraction on this route is the Tsz Shan Monastery and Guan Yin statue. The trail is estimated to last around one and a half hours but can be enhanced further by taking the 9km long Tai Mei Tuk dam route. If you are an experienced rider the 20km long trail from Tai Wai to Tai Mei Tuk is highly recommended.
Get off the beaten trail and explore the verdant confines of Nam Sang Wai. Ideal for getting away from the concrete jungles of the city centre this area is home to loads of greenery, fish ponds and abandoned farmlands. You can rent a bike from the Tin Fung Bicycle Company while an experienced guide service is offered by other tour operators, for a comprehensive scout of the area. The guided tour is 35kms long as it explores the less famous areas of the place while cyclist taking on a solo tour of the area can cut it down to 20kms through easy and scenic paths.
If you want a leisurely ride without too many complication this is the best tour. Head over to the Po Kong Village Park which is close to the scenic Tsim Sha Tsui area home to the Hotel Pravo Hong Kong. Ideal for families staying at hotels in Kowloon Hong Kong the park is home to an elevated trak that is 1km long. Bikes suitable for all age groups are available for rent there while ramps for BMX enthusiasts are also available for some daredevil fun.
The Chi Ma Wan trail snakes around Lantau Island's beautiful southern coast. Bike shops in the Mui Wo area offer good quality bikes for the tour which includes crossing the river and cycling up steep mountain paths. This is a trail best suited for seasoned cyclists.
